The British Arachnological Society strongly condemns the invasion of Ukraine. The arachnological research and conservation community is international, working together towards common goals regardless of differences in language, culture, religion and political views. We now stand in solidarity with our colleagues and friends in Ukraine, Russia, Belarus and across the world. Our community entirely rejects this violence and urges a peaceful solution.
Our colleagues in the European Society of Arachnology offer advice and help for arachnologists from Ukraine, Russia and Belarus. The Science for Ukraine website and Twitter feed collect and disseminate information about support opportunities being offered by educational institutions for all students and academics affected by the war. In Britain, donations towards humanitarian aid for those displaced by the war can be given via the Disasters Emergency Committee appeal.
